Are you a qualified electrician with a passion for raising industry standards and helping others gain recognition for their experience?

At NICEIC/Certsure, we’ve been leading the way in training and assessment within the building services industry for over 20 years. As demand grows for the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) route, we’re expanding our team and looking for freelance assessors across the UK.

If you're an experienced electrical assessor with strong technical knowledge and a commitment to high standards, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the industry.

About the Role

As an On-Site Assessor, you’ll assess experienced electricians working toward their Level 3 qualification through the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) route. You’ll work on a freelance basis, managing a regional caseload that minimises unnecessary travel.

Your role will involve observing candidates in the workplace, reviewing their portfolio evidence, and conducting structured technical discussions to confirm their competence. You'll help them achieve full qualification and prepare for their AM2E or AM2ED assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured on-site assessments for candidates undertaking the City & Guilds 2346/2347 EWA Qualifications (Installation or Domestic Electrician).
  • Review skills scans, verify evidence, and carry out technical discussions to confirm occupational competence.
  • Support candidates through their portfolio development, giving clear, constructive feedback.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure assessments meet current industry regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate digital records of assessments and outcomes.
  • Liaise with quality assurance teams and maintain consistency across assessments.

Skills and Experience
Essential

  • Recognised Assessor Qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/33 or equivalent).
  • Qualified Electrician, NVQ Level 3, recognised Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Substantial hands-on experience as a practising electrician.
  • In-depth knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition) and relevant inspection and testing procedures.
  • Experience assessing a learner's vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding in the workplace.
  • Confident using digital tools and e-portfolios.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel nationally, with occasional overnight stays as required.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with AM2E or AM2ED assessments and preparation processes.
  • IQA qualification or experience.
